I've been lazy, not on the strict sense of the word, but I haven't been dedicating much time to photography since coming home from the last two trips.
Could be the whole wake up, go to airport, find coffee and something to eat, wait, board plane, try to sleep, land, try to make sense of the location or time difference.... it was fun, but I was a bit tired.
Now, about the trips, first we went to NY to meet with some friends Patty hadn't seen in a while (at the same time), it was a weekend trip (a real mad dash), and I now love Brooklyn (had a ton of fun there, found a t shirt by Father Panik that I loved, and the Brooklyn Brewery rocks). I rented the Canon 16-35mm F/2.8L II, beautiful, well made lens, but it did gave a loooooot of color aberration (should have read the LensRentals reviews and go with the 17-55 instead), but the image quality was excellent, had a lot of fun with that lens (never swapped lenses, it stay on my camera all weekend).
The next trip was to the West Coast, my first time there, and I freaking loved it. We spent three days in San Francisco, then headed south to Santa Barbara, and then finally to LA. All together, we stayed a week in California, and while tired, I definitively enjoyed that trip.
San Francisco gave me fits, though. There was a looooooot of walking (but like LA, it gave me a ton of nice pictures).
I loved SF, and I will definitively will like to go back with more time, three days, with jet lag, wasn't enough. Next, we went to Santa Cruz, not as many pictures, but a lot of sea lions (so things balanced out).
Then Big Sur, and Prismo Dunes, and we spent the night (and half a day) in Santa Barbara.
and then, we finally made it to Manhattan Beach in LA, where we realized we had left the tripod back in San Francisco, so we had to scramble to get a new one for the following pictures.
We spent the last day in Santa Monica Pier, and Manhattan Beach, we got some nice frames, and then made it back home. All in all, it was a great trip, and I want to go back with a better plan of attack (we were mad dashing it, we could have stayed in SF or Manhattan Beach a lot longer), some final frames.
